We have nine Trustees:

 

Trevor Jones (Chair)

Trevor is a member of Christ Church Purley where he has served as a Church Warden and Church Council member. Until his retirement in 2018, he worked as a Health & Safety Inspector, his areas of regulation including food and more recently chemical industry sites in southern England. He was previously a Trustee of Abbeyfield Purley Society.

 

Ivanka Lennon (Vice Chair)

Ivanka, who is a member of Christ Church Purley, is also a volunteer with Croydon Churches Floating Shelter and Croydon Refugee Day Centre, which helps her to better understand the problems and needs of some of the Food Hub's clients. She says: 'It is a continuing privilege to serve those in need, offering food and prayer and, where relevant, signposting to other organisations that may also be able to help our clients.'

 

Mark Dakin

Previously a Food Hub volunteer, Mark has volunteered for several years with Croydon Churches Floating Shelter at Purley Baptist Church and Christ Church. A member of Purley Baptist, he is a solicitor with a legal firm in Croydon, specialising in defending people at magistrates' and crown courts. His daughter Rebecca is a Food Hub volunteer.

 

Lizzie Englefield

A member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church Purley, Lizzie is Deputy Head at St Mary's Catholic High School in Croydon. The school serves local families and those new to the country and Lizzie works closely with outside partners in Croydon to meet the pupils' and families' needs. She says: "The Food Hub is central to this and I wish to serve the wider community as a Trustee sharing my local experience and understanding."

 

Shade Odupelu

With over 20 years' senior human resources experience in the education, charity, religious and other sectors, Shade is Interim Director of People for Re-engage (previously known as Contact the Elderly). She is a member of Purley Baptist Church and a trustee with Langley House Trust.

 

Nick Pannell

A member of St Mary's Church Addington, Nick and his wife Lesley also help at The Vine food bank in New Addington and run the Croydon Churches Floating Shelter each year at St Mary's. Nick was a maths teacher for 34 years and runs a shore-based sailing school in Croydon; he is a Royal Yachting Association senior sailing instructor.

 

Rev'd Fiona Weaver

Fiona has been co-opted as a Trustee for a year to October 2021. She is Vicar of St Mark's and St Swithun's Churches Purley and in addition to her pastoral work is a volunteer driver with the Food Hub regularly delivering food parcels to clients' homes. She has also had a yellow wheelie installed in St Mark's for food donations from local people which she helps bring to us at Purley United Reformed Church.

 

Terry Whittaker

A member of Purley United Reformed Church since the early 1980s and an elder for the past two years, Terry has helped with the children's Sunday club for 20 years. Initially she was a nurse before switching to primary school teaching when her children were growing up. She is retired.

 

Annabel Wright

A Food Hub volunteer, Annabel (Christ Church) is Financial Director for the Artisan Brandt software and IT services group. She and her family are keen supporters of the Food Hub: daughter Winnie is also a volunteer and swims for us in the Purley Swimathon along with brothers Gilbert and Ernest.

 

The Trustees have legal responsibility for the Food Hub's management and administration. The day-to-day running of the organisation is carried out by the Management Committee: Louise Willmer (Acting Chair and Stock), Brian Gibbs (IT), Jean Ludlow (Administrator), Ros Shepherd (Supermarket Collections), Paul Walsh (Human Resources), Joanna Walker (Treasurer) and Trevor Jones as Chair of Trustees.
